Dubai Transport for Large Groups and Families: A Planning Guide

Dubai Transport for Large Groups and Families: A Planning Guide

Travelling with a big family or group is wonderful, but transport becomes the logistics challenge of the trip. Standard taxis seat a limited number of passengers, so you may need to split up or arrange a larger vehicle. Planning ahead keeps everyone together and on schedule.

Count people and luggage separately

List how many adults and children are travelling and how many suitcases and carry-on bags you have. Vehicles have both seat and luggage capacity, and a van that seats seven may not hold seven large suitcases. Tell the operator the full count so they recommend the right vehicle.

Choose the right vehicle type

  • Family car or SUV: small families with moderate luggage.
  • Minivan: larger families, with more seats and luggage space.
  • Minibus or coach: large groups, events and school or corporate parties.
  • Multiple vehicles: sometimes the most practical option for very large groups, with a coordinator in each.

Children and child seats

Children should travel in suitable child restraints for their age and size. Rules and available equipment vary, and not every vehicle has child seats by default. Request them when you book, say how many you need and the ages of the children, and confirm the answer in writing. If you are bringing your own seat, tell the operator.

Timing with children and older relatives

Plan fewer, longer stops rather than many short ones. Schedule outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day, build in rest time and allow extra minutes at attractions for toilet breaks, strollers and mobility needs. Ask whether vehicles can accommodate wheelchairs or foldable strollers.

Keep everyone together

  • Share one meeting point and one contact number with every adult.
  • Agree what to do if someone gets separated in a busy place.
  • Use a group chat for live updates.
  • Take a photo of each child each morning in case you need to describe what they are wearing.

Budget wisely

Compare the cost of one larger vehicle against several taxis over a full day. For a group, a private driver can be cheaper and far simpler than coordinating multiple rides, especially when you have several stops.

Before the day

Reconfirm the booking a day before, check the weather, pack water and snacks and give your driver the full itinerary. If you are planning a group trip and want vehicle suggestions, contact us with your numbers and dates.
