What to Check Before Booking a Dubai Tour: Inclusions, Pickup and Cancellation

Two tours with the same name can be very different experiences. A few minutes of checking before you pay prevents most disappointments. Use this checklist when you compare offers.

Inclusions and exclusions

  • Are entrance tickets included, and for which levels or areas?
  • Are meals and drinks included? Which ones, and are there vegetarian or halal options?
  • Is hotel pickup and drop-off included, or do you meet at a point?
  • Are taxes, service charges and fees already in the price?
  • Are photos, extra activities or upgrades extra?

Pickup details

Ask for the pickup window and the area limits for pickups. Hotels in some areas may need to meet at a nearby point. Tell the operator the exact hotel name, room number and a phone number that works in the United Arab Emirates. Be ready at the start of the window, because a missed pickup is usually not refundable.

Timing and duration

Confirm the start time, the approximate duration and the return time, especially if you have a flight, a dinner reservation or a young child with a nap schedule. Remember that traffic can affect timings, particularly in the evening.

Age, health and dress requirements

Some activities have age, height, health or weight limits. Others require closed shoes, modest clothing or a minimum number of participants. Check these before booking, and mention any medical condition, pregnancy or mobility need so the operator can advise honestly.

Group size and language

Check the maximum group size and the guide\'s language. If you want a guided commentary, confirm that a guide, not only a driver, is included.

Cancellation, weather and changes

  • How late can you cancel for a full refund?
  • Can you reschedule if your plans change?
  • What happens if the operator cancels because of weather or safety?
  • Are deposits refundable?

Safety and licensing

Ask whether the operator is licensed to provide the activity, and what safety equipment and briefing are provided. For activities such as desert driving, boat trips and flights, reputable operators explain safety clearly and without pressure.

Keep your confirmation

After booking, you should receive a confirmation with the tour name, date, time, number of guests, pickup details, total price and a contact number. Save it on your phone and take a screenshot in case you lose signal. If anything on the confirmation does not match what you agreed, ask for a correction before the day of the tour.
